Back to School

Back to School!

After the freedom of summer, it is time again to be educated. I remember many things about that time in my youth. The excitement of new classes, teacher and friends. And the hope, that no matter how well or poorly I performed in the past, it was a fresh start. Also, a strong memory, that no matter what I learned in the previous year, I now was back at the starting line. Along with new classes, came also new challenges.

This is in many ways similar to our Christian walk. No matter how much we learn about the Lord and His Kingdom every day we wake up to more we can learn. Happily, I’m quick to swap any of my poor performances for a chance at a fresh start.

Maybe more importantly we can build upon those previously learned experiences in order to increase in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every day is a new, fresh experience with a God not of the past but of the present and future.

Blessings,

Pastor Chuck

Investing in the Youth

As pastor, I am excited about the success of a couple of our events involving our youth. First was the EYC Youth Camp.  Our kids received the Holy Spirit and all had life changing experiences. Second, was the “Vacation Bible School” which was just completed. We actually had more kids from the community than kids in our church. It was wonderful to have made some contact with our community.

I greatly appreciate the efforts of those who helped put on both these events. Let’s continue to invest in our children for they are the future leaders of the church.

Blessings,

Pastor Chuck

The Heart of the Matter

One of my favorite scriptures is I Samuel 16:7 “ For the Lord sees not as man sees, for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  A truth indeed.  We are continually making many kinds of judgement, mainly based on what we see with our eyes.  Judgement and perceptions are derived from height, color of eyes and hair, body shape, manners and movements, fashion and trends.  Not one of these is a true indicator of one’s spirituality or walk with God.

We’ve seen in recent history, those we view who have got it all together with God- thus they must be close to the Lord.  Then, only to hear of some spiritual/ moral failure.  Of course, we possess no ability to look into people’s hearts.  And thank the Lord for that.  I don’t want to know what is in others hearts nor others to know mine.

The Lord is the only one we trust in matters of our heart.  Thus, another truism to live by: “Judge not lest you be judged.”

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

The first Sunday in June, we will celebrate the advent of the Holy Spirit or Pentecost. The last commandment Jesus gave, before HIS ascension, was ‘do not leave Jerusalem till you receive power.’ That is, the third person of the God head. The Holy Spirit. Believers should never underestimate the importance of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The current task of the Holy Spirit is four fold. First – to convict the world. Second – to cleanse the believer through the blood of Jesus at the new birth. Third – to make real in believers lives the legal pronouncement of Righteousness that God has made. And finally, to empower the believer to assist in the sanctification process of others. Let us rejoice and give thanks for the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Celebrate!

Celebrating the Arts

BLESSINGS AND PEACE TO YOU ALL! I am excited having the A.D. Players come to CFC and perform the play, John: His Story. By now everyone knows my love for the ARTS. But to rehearse in short, I desire our young people to be exposed to the ARTS in all their forms (theater, music, painting, cinema, etc.) as well as their usage for the expansion of the Kingdom of God. With joy, I watched our children’s eyes filled with awe while watching the production of Charlotte’s Web at the new A.D. Players theater earlier this year. This is a great opportunity for the CFC family to invite other family, friends and neighbors! Come and enjoy the A.D. Players presentation of John: His Story.

We are honored to announce, Sunday, May 14th, the ordination service of Russ McKee as an elder to CFC. Russ has served faithfully for many years here at CFC and will be a welcomed addition to our ministry team. Also, on May 14th, we will honor our MOMS, so let me be the first to say, BLESSED MOTHER”S DAY!

In His Service,

Pastor Chuck

The Resurrection Difference

The singular tenet offset, which separates Christianity from other religions is: the RESURRECTION. Other religions have, in their history, charismatic leaders, miracle workers, wise teachers, proclaimed messiahs and even martyrs. What is the difference? JESUS is the only one validated by resurrection. Thus, the Father testifies JESUS is the King of kings, Lord of lords, Savior of all mankind. Resurrection is the hope of every believer. To follow in the example of our Lord, that death possesses no victory but has been destroyed by HIM. The end result: we, HIS disciples will spend all eternity with HIM. That power, the RESURRECTION, works in us now and eternity to come.

Blessings to you all!
